Kids’ Drive, Chip & Putt Qualifier

On the Green

On Thursday, August 7, Little Miami Golf Center hosted the sub-regional qualifier for the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship. This event, sponsored by the United States Golf Association, PGA of America and the Master’s Tournament is a national event for boys and girls ages 7–15. Participants accumulate points for each skill by getting three shots at each skills area: driving distance and accuracy, putting from different lengths and chipping.

Nearly 140 participants, who qualified through a local qualifier, were at Little Miami Golf Center for a chance to be one of the two top boys and girls from each age division who would advance to the regional championship in September at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana. A total of 80 kids will advance at the regional qualifier to the national championship, which will be held at Augusta National Golf Club during the week of the Master’s Tournament.

Local qualifying was held at 256 sites in 50 states during May, June and July. There were 50 sites throughout the United States for the sub-regional qualifier. In the end, 16 junior golfers qualified at Little Miami Golf Center.

Good luck to those who qualified and congratulations to everyone who participated!
