Fishing is Great at Great Parks!

Anglers were greeted with unseasonably cool temperatures on Saturday, June 13  for the first Bass Series Tournament of 2020. There were 29 teams that fished for a three-bass limit from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Miami Whitewater Forest Lake. In the end, 19 of them brought fish to the weigh-in.

Ben Luebberst and Fred James won the contest with three bass that totaled 9.19 lbs.! They caught all three fish near the dam by 9 a.m., and their work was done. They were awarded trophies and Great Parks gift cards totaling $686 for the win.

Joe Lyons and Brent Lyons finished second with a limit weighing 8.73 lbs. They won trophies and gift cards totaling $490. Terry Blankenship and Cody Kreager finished third with 7.22 lbs. They won trophies and gift cards totaling $294. Paul Regensburger caught the biggest bass of the day, tipping the scales at 4.04 lbs! All of the fish were released back into the lake.

Our next fishing tournament will be for our catfish anglers. The next Rod Busting Series tournament is at Miami Whitewater Forest on Saturday, June 20. Miami Whitewater Forest Lake has a large population of big blue catfish and fish in excess of 30 lbs. are common here!

The tournament begins at 8 a.m. and weigh-ins are at 2 p.m. The boathouse will open at 7 a.m. for anglers to register, or you can register online. Please arrive with ample time before the tournament and follow our new regulations to maintain social distancing.
