Coloring Page: Common Ohio Trees | Sugar Maple

We’re giving you some fun coloring activities! Our next coloring page theme is common Ohio trees. Can you name what trees we’re featuring just by looking at them?

Today’s tree is a sweet favorite of many people. It’s none other than the sugar maple! If the name isn’t a clue, sugar maples (Acer saccharum) are the trees that give us maple sugar to make maple syrup. Native Americans also created a tea from the inner bark of maple sugar trees that they used as a cough remedy.

Tapping maple trees has a narrow time frame in Hamilton County, anywhere from two to eight weeks. Great Parks celebrates maple tapping every year during Maple Sugar Days.
