The Fishing Season Isn’t Over Yet

All, Fishin' Line

July has come and gone and parents across the city have started their countdown for when school is back in session, but there are still plenty of great fishing events yet to take place this year. In fact, four more are scheduled for later this month.

The first event is on August 6, when we host the fifth Kids’ Mystery Fish Challenge at Miami Whitewater Forest from 10 a.m. to noon. This free event is by far our most popular fishing event, with almost 400 kids participating so far this year. Children weigh-in every fish they hook, hoping that they are one of the three closest to the day’s mystery weight.

The next two events are the final Bass Series tournaments before the Championship. The first tournament will be held on August 12 at Miami Whitewater Forest and the second one on August 20 at Winton Woods. Only the top 20 anglers will qualify for the Series Championship and a chance to be called Angler of the Year. To check out where everyone is currently ranked click here. To register, click here.

The final fishing event in August is another Rod Busting tournament at Lake Isabella on August 26. This will be our final night tournament of the 2017 season, starting at 8 p.m. and promptly ending at 2 a.m. (Since there are a limited number of boats available, anglers are encouraged to sign up in advance online. To register, click here.) There will be two more Rod Busting tournaments this fall, and the team with the five best scores out of six tournaments will be named the Rod Busting Champions after the October 21 tournament. We couldn’t have these great events if it wasn’t for our great sponsors. With the help and support of our sponsors, Bass Pro Shops and Hamilton Bait & Tackle, we are able to provide events for all types of anglers. So mark your calendars now, and we hope to see you at one or all of these events!
