Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo 2016

All, Fishin' Line

Great Parks and Green Umbrella teamed up to host the Kids Outdoor Adventure Expo at Winton Woods Harbor on July 22. The Expo is the largest free interactive outdoor and environmental education event for children in the Midwest! It was hot and sticky, but that didn’t stop thousands of kids from having some outdoor fun!

On Winton Woods Lake, we closed off an area with a large net and stocked it with 400 pounds of channel catfish. We used funding from the event to purchase fishing equipment and Hamilton Bait and Tackle generously donated 1,000 night crawlers for the kids.

With everything set up for catching fish, the kids reeled in fish after fish! Some of the kids who took part had never caught a fish or even went fishing before in their lives. This event gave them a unique experience and memories they will never forget. Seeing kids catch a fish for the first time made the Expo very rewarding for the kids, but just as rewarding for the staff members and volunteers! These pictures are priceless!
