Coloring Page: Common Ohio Trees | Slippery Elm

We’re giving you some fun coloring activities! Our next coloring page theme is common Ohio trees. Can you name what trees we’re featuring just by looking at them?

You may not think of a tree being slippery, but that’s how slippery elm (Ulmus rubra) got its name. Slippery elm has a glue-like substance in its inner bark, which becomes similar to a gel when mixed with water. People in North America have used this gel as an herbal remedy for centuries. Slippery elm has been used to treat sore throats, stomach problems, burns and skin inflammation.
