Did you know the pawpaw (Asimina triloba) is the state fruit of Ohio? However, you may want to wait to try the pawpaw fruit until it is harvested. Asimina triloba flowers smell like rotting flesh. This might not be appealing to us humans, but it attracts the pollinators of the pawpaw: various blowflies, carrion beetles and zebra swallowtail butterflies.
