American Sycamore, buttonwood tree, western plane, water beech – Platanus occidentalis goes by many names. American sycamore trees can grow to massive proportions, reaching anywhere between 98 to 131 feet in height!

Did you know? The agreement on which the New York Stock Exchange was founded is called the Buttonwood Agreement because it was signed under a buttonwood (sycamore) tree located on Wall Street in 1793.
