Rain or Snow, the Turkey Day Open is a Go!

On Saturday, November 15, Great Parks is hosting the annual Turkey Day Open fishing tournament at Miami Whitewater Forest Lake. This is your last chance to reel in some of the biggest catfish in the greater Cincinnati region!

You may think the fish won’t bite in snowy frigid temperatures; however, the lake is still 55 degrees and the blue catfish use this time to fatten up before winter hits. Last year, Tony Thomas and Butch Staat won the tournament with a total of 82 pounds!

The Turkey Day Open tournament starts at 10 a.m. with the weigh-in at 4 p.m. Registration begins an hour before the start of the tournament. Any and all species of fish will be weighed-in. The entry fee is $40 per team, which includes boat rental.

In addition to bragging rights, the top three teams will also walk away with some great prizes. The grand prize will be prize certificates, trophies and two plump turkeys! The second and third place teams will both be given trophies and prize certificates based on the amount of people in the tournament.

While you’re out at the lake, stop by the boathouse for an end of the year tackle sale. Now is the perfect time to stock up on supplies for next season. All merchandise will be discounted, and some tackle will be discounted as much as 50%.

See you on November 15!
