On Saturday, September 27, Sharon Woods Golf Course hosted a free Appreciation Instructional Clinic. The clinic was offered as a “thank you” to students who participated in a variety of golf instructional programs throughout the year including Get Golf Ready classes, 6-hole golf leagues, individual lessons or the University of Cincinnati “Communiversity” golf instruction. Several participants brought family or friends along to also introduce them to golf. This was one of three appreciation clinics held this year. The clinic was led by PGA Golf Professional Brian Fennen and PGA Apprentice Heather McKee.
On Wednesday, October 1, Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Course hosted the Division 1 High School Sectional golf tournament. This year, 14 schools were represented. In the end, four schools qualified and advanced to the District Tournament. The top four schools were LaSalle (307 score), St. Xavier (307 score), Fairfield (321 score) and Elder (324 score.) In addition, several individual players advanced who were not part of a team. These golfers included Ty Sauer, Curran Persinger, Aaron Black and Reid Ruhl. Reid advanced through a playoff to earn the final spot. The medalist for the event was Daniel Wetterich from LaSalle with a score of 71. Congratulations to all the teams and players advancing to the next event!
