Sharon Woods Bass Series
On June 10, Great Parks hosted its third Bass Series tournament of the year at Sharon Woods. We had good weather and a full field of 24 boats in the tournament. After a slow start of getting through the vegetation, we ended with a few good bags of fish. Most fishermen spent their day hunting for clear water or punching baits through the thick vegetation. The anglers that had luck caught their fish in deeper portions of Sharon Lake.

Winners Brian Freeman and Chris Stanforth.

The winners, Brian Freeman and Chris Stanforth, caught a nice 9.75 pound limit, including an almost 4.5 pound big bass. The big bass had beautiful coloring and had an interesting knot on his head. The winning team took home first place plaques, the big fish plaque, $563.50 in Great Parks gift cards, a $25 gift card to Hamilton Bait and Tackle and $170 for the big bass jackpot!

Second place winner Jody Andrzjewski.

The second place finisher fished alone and also cleaned up on prizes. Jody Andrzjewski caught 9.05 pounds and won $402.50 in Great Parks gift cards. Larry Fillers and Elvis Miller finished in third with 7.96 pounds.

Chis Macarthy Kids’ Derby
The Macarthy family and friends generously donate money to Great Parks to host a kids fishing derby at Mitchell Memorial Forest in Chris Macarthy’s memory. Chris was an avid fisherman and spent a lot of his childhood time fishing at Mitchell Memorial Forest. Great Parks uses this money to stock 400 pounds of catfish for kids to catch and make lifelong memories. The catfish ranged in size from 1 to 5 pounds. One father son combo caught 15 catfish at the event!
